Looks to Love: June Ambrose

Photobucket
Stylist to the stars, June Ambrose serves up major style. She wears:

Gaultier Leather Dress
Club Monaco Scarf
YSL Tribute Pumps
Prada Socks
Marc Jacobs Bag
Francois Pinton Glasses

Style Commander: Rihanna

Rihanna continues to amaze me. I post about her style more than any celebrity she may even get her own section of the site. Here she's pictured out and about in NYC. Rihanna understands details. Details like rolling her cuffs or a jeweled collar on a jacket, or even the accessories she chooses adds ounces of style at a time.

Tres Chic: Spring Footwear

I'd like to introduce a brand I've recently discovered. Maybe I'm late but a store popped into my mall over night and I had to do some research. Spring Footwear is a subsidiary of the ALDO shoe group. All of their shoes are priced from $10 to no higher than $80, isn't that great! My advice for when it comes to buying shoes is buy cheap trends and invest in your basics. Spring has REALLY cute trendy shoes, here's a few of my picks. Shop their website by clicking Here.

Tres Chic: Pour la Victoire

Pour la Victoire always makes nice shoes and pumps. They've swept me off my feet with their "Ella" T-strap sandal. Inspired by the Philip Lim for Christian Louboutin Adona Lim Flat the Ella retails for $225.00 at Nordstrom department stores. This sandal is a must have for effortless summer style.

Looks to Love: Gossip Girl

I'm loving the looks from tonights episode of "Gossip Girl". The cast took a step into the time machine back to the highly stylised era of the 80's as Lily Van Derwoodsen (Serena's mom) reminisces on her days of youth .

Wannabe Wangin'

When I first saw Alexander Wang's transparent squiggle dress I was ready to wipe out my savings because this was a WORK of art. Now we don't have to break the bank to look like Ms. Rose. American Appearal relased a couple of Alexander Wang "inspired" transparent mesh style dresses that will foot the bill. Just head to your closest craft store, buy some trimmings and get creative. POOF! Bangin' wannabe Wang in a instant!

Here's a lil' something extra while we're on the mesh topic. This deep-V body suit has wardrobe staple potential. You can wear it virtually underneath anything! My choice would be with skirts and high waist jeans. I'm going to check AA out this week!

Looks To Love: Club Monaco

I'm spreading the CM love this weekend. I've been so busy this week that I decided to do a personal "Looks to Love" featuring none other than ME of course! Club Monaco's May collection is very versatile and diverse allowing me to create these two looks. What do you guys think?

Myssi's Must Haves: Club Monaco

Club Monaco
I love the African inspired bangles, they can give any chic wardrobe an instant boost. A little accesory can go a long way. I also adore the polka dot shorts, they're the perfect length! The "Lola" top has an urban style that can be dressed up for a party or dressed down for relaxing.

Honorable Tee Time

Anna Sui and Koi Suwannagate designed these fabulously exclusive T-Shirts in honor of Asian Pacific Heritage month. The T-shirts are sold for $60 exclusively at Nordstrom department stores. All proceeds directly benefit a scholarship fund for college bound Asian Pacific American students thorough the OCA, an organization committed to helping students achieve their goals. My favorite is the "faux necklace" Tee with the lace and ribbon details. For only $60 you can rock a Tee inspired by Anna and Koi's spring 2009 collection while giving back. I love Fashion with a cause!

Anna Sui, right on Target

Mark your calendar's! Discount retail super store Target has conjured up another deliciously desirable designer collaboration. Their target this time?? Miss Anna Sui known best for her quirky designs. This collection's inspiration derives from the character's of the CW'S hit series "Gossip Girl". So expect Blair-like jeweled head bands and cute rebellious school girl outfits, but then again, you never know! The collection will launch from September 13 through October 17 and is set to hit 250 select Target stores and Target.com. Anna's aesthetic reminds me of Betsey Johnson and I'm super excited about this collection. Are you guys excited about the new colab?

Looks To Love: Rihanna

I'm sure every Look to Love features Rihanna so far, it's not my fault she's always wearing something cute! Well I've found a similar look since you wouldn't want to wear the EXACT same thing now would you? Sorry, puppy not included.

Steven Madden Pandita Bootie - $169.95
Silence & Noise Skirt @ Urbanoutfitters - $38.00
Heritage1981 Tee -$15.90

The forgotten.

After all the hustle and bustle of the Gala at the Met last night about "who wore what" and "Best and Worst Dressed" you can forget about the little things that makes moments like those memorable and inspiring. I wish i was there and maybe one day I will be attending but until then I found these images really inspiring and interesting. The first 3 would make great desktops. Click to enlarge

Gimme those bright lights!

Stand by me

"The call" - We've all been there. You just came out of the party and it's time to go home. Your calling your ride "You parked where?!"

2009 Costume Institute Gala

Last night the annual Costume Institute Gala was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. There where many belle's of the ball and I'll post later on my favorites but I must address Miss Rihanna's ensemble. At first glace I thought her suit designed by Dolce & Gabbana was horrendous. After picturing her in a fancifull gown or a sexy fitted mini dress, or any frilled metallic combination of the two, I then reconsidered and realised her outfit of choice (or stylists choice) was perfect. I'm thinking she wasn't intending on jumping onto any "best dressed lists but if the idea was a PR stunt, she certainly grabbed my attention. Welcome back Ri-Ri. Kudos on her hair and make-up. Its the most fabulous part of your whole outfit.

For full coverage on the Met Gala's Hit's and Misses check out Red Carpet Fashion Awards and Black Style Central.

Matthew Williamson X H&M Summer Collection

Take two! Later this month part two of the Matthew Williamson collection will be released. I missed the first release so hopefully I will be able to get my hands on a few of these pieces. I have my eye on the turquoise tulip mini skirt and the peacock tank. Among the collection are scarfs, cute flowy tops, a fab motorcycle style jacket and colorful and flirty swim pieces. Prepare yourself because I have a feeling this time a around it's going to be twice as hott.

Creating personal style.

In the world of the fashion conscious it's imperative to possess a personal style to be easily recognized if you aren't a model or celeb. I noticed that younger fashionista use the word" unique" when they're asked to describe their style. The word is used so often that it defeats the purpose of it's meaning (in my opinion). I've always taken a note on how to develop a personal style. You have to have one consistent trait and then you can insert different variables into your style.

Take stylist Pat Feild for example. We will always recognize her with her flaming red hair. She then mixes different pieces to build her outfits and we've grown to love her quirkiness.

Designer Erin Featherson (I love her) always keeps her platinum blonde bangs cut perfectly.
New singer Janelle Monae always sports androgynous outfits with her hair fashioned in a retro quiff. Even if you can't remember her name, you would could remember her style.
We all know Anna Wintour by her sharply cut bob hairstyle and her over sized glasses.
What is your constant variable?? It can be your hair like these ladies, or a certain accessory you always wear or even a shirt your obsessed with. Whatever you do stay consistent and OWN IT! That's how you'll create your personal style and truly become "unique."
