Mama's got a new toy!

Last week I was walking through Roosevelt Field mall, and I was talking on my cell, when a T-mobile rep yells across the hall to me "YOU NEED TO UPGRADE!" I was completely embarrassed, but I knew he was right. I had a old white flip phone that came out in 2006. My friends and EVERYONE has been trying to get me to buy a new phone, but I really didn't want a sidekick, and a blackberry was too costly, call me El Cheap-O". After that spectacle in the middle of the mall he took me by the hand and walked me to his booth and I picked out the Samsung Behold. I LOVE IT, I choose the espresso color because I couldn't imagine owning a pink phone, seriously. This phone is amazing, its completely touch sensitive, 5 mega-Pixel camera with zoom and flash, records videos, music player, real web browsing, IM and everything my heart desires. I had it for about 3 days and no complaints, I would say battery life is a little weak, but I listen to music on it all day long. This phone has a ton a great features and it's perfect for a maturing stylista such as myself. Hey if your T-mobile contract is almost up, upgrade to the Behold, it's definitely worth it.

PS. I know how to unlock it if you DON'T have T-mobile.

I'm a BARBIE girl

It's here, it's here!! In honor of Barbie's 50th B-day the folks over at Mattel have team up with the cosmetic brand Stila to create a kit each featuring the look of an iconic Barbie doll from the past five decades. I've been anticipating the release of these Barbie x Stila "paint cans" at Sephora for weeks. [ btw, I'm a beauty insider, join the club for free] My favorite of the paint pots is the "Foxy Barbie", not just because she's rocking an Afro, but I like the coral lip jelly, it looks fresh and juicy. The other looks include "Ponytail Doll" "Malibu Doll" and "Jewel Doll". According to Sephora, its "a can packed with all you need to get a Barbie-full look". Would you pay $40 to have Barbie's look?

Spotted: Chanel Iman for Bloomingdales

Spotted Model Chanel Iman on Bloomies homepage [ go girl!]. Chanel has been booking gigs all over the place first express and now department store giant, Bloomingdales. I'm sure she's walking plenty of runways in Paris this week. Well, what else could we expect from the young model with Tyra Banks as her mentor. Chanel's already an "It- girl" in my eyes, and I'm proud she's a woman of color, adding some color to the scene was way overdue. How do you guys feel about Chanel, and isn't her name ironic?

Looks To Love: Jasmin Di Milo

I was browsing style.com yesterday and I came across these exits by Jasmin Di Milo. Kerry Washington and Rihanna recently wore pieces from her previous collections last week and they looked great so on grew my curiosity for the designer. What I found made me very happy, my absolute favorite is the black shorts with the orange top. I think its a one piece, although I'm not sure. I love the cuts and the geometric shapes, it reminds me of the 80's and 90's style that I'm accustomed too. If I could afford it, I would buy it because I love style "in-a- snap" outfits, you know, outfits where you don't have to work very hard on. The search is on for a low- priced look alike. What do you guys think?

A letter to Kimora Lee

Dear Kimora,

After reading Fabulosity in summer of 2008 I found a new light in myself. I let go off all my inhibitions and my self esteem shoot through the roof. My mother always told me the same things you talked about but it's different when you can see it on TV and in print. I would like to thank you for inspiring me to create my blog. You motivated me by sharing your experiences in high school [ those girls were evil calling you "chinky giraffe" I bet they aren't half as successful as you are], college, and becoming a model. Everyone has their own opinions about you, but I understand where your coming from, you have to be confident in yourself b/c no one is going to be confident FOR you. Thanks again, and I hope to meet you in the future when I'm a professional stylist.

On the road to fabulosity,

Renee

P.S. you look beautiful in Baby Phat's Spring 2009 AD, I like the natural look.

-Who or what inspires you??

The "LADY DRAGON" is coming

Last month I posted Pam Anderson wearing Melissa Plastic shoes with short shorts, not a good look for ANYone. Despite Pam's questionable fashion choices British Stylist and designer Vivienne Westwood who's famed for her eclectic shoes and flame colored hair has created a cute pair of peep toes just in time for the Spring/ Summer 2009. "After causing a riot during her quick trip to Brazil in January 2008, when showing her first models signed with Melissa in the São Paulo Fashion Week, It was such a great success that the company anticipated the launching for the 2009 high summer, together with another irreverent model by the British stylist. Lady Dragon - Lady Dragon Vivienne Westwood + Melissa are putting their bets on high heels and vibrating colors; the new model signed by Vivienne Westwood has an enormous heart over the toes and a very charming V format peep toe. The colors are vibrating: yellow with a black heart, light blue with a red heart, salmon with a black heart [ the one Pam wore] and pearl white with a red heart. The heart format is like a trademark of the stylist, appearing in several manners in her collections. Besides this icon, the Lady Dragon model comes in an ORB gold edge version, a symbol of the Vivienne Westwood style. The colors are classic: solid black, crystal black with glitter and crystal gold with glitter." I've heard that the plastic heels are really comfortable, so now I'm willing to give them a try. Any takers on Melissa's Plastic Dreams?

Trying to GROW your hair?

People always tell me stories about when they were younger their hair was not just "long", it was Pochantas' length, but somehow their hair now stops at the nape of their neck. Obviously some were lying, but if you want to grow your hair try these amazing products. I've been using Redken for about 1 year and the texture of my hair has improved dramatically. My hair would have been longer if I didn't get the "Rihanna bob" back in August. When I first cut my hair I couldn't make a pony tail, but since I have been using Wild Growth hair oil i can make decent ponytail without looking like a bald-headed scallywag [ You know the types, lol].

Although Redken doesn't make products specifically for black hair I think Smooth Down and All Soft are the best Redken products that can work and provide noticeable for African American Hair or textured hair. All Soft provides softness for dry and brittle hair and caresses hair with olive oil, which is found in majority of Black hair products. Smooth Down best suits very dry and unruly hair. The formula enriches and tames and smooths coarse hair and leaves it nice and shiny. I've been using Smooth down for awhile, but I'm switching to All Soft for a while. If your looking to grow your locks, try these products, seriously it works!

OBAMA BABY!

I just finished watching the inauguration on channel seven. I didn't think I was going to cry but I did. It really hit me that our President is a black man, it's on national TV, and it wasn't possible 200 years ago. Today it was live in living color for the whole world to see, and I believe that a change in our nation is here!

Inauguration Anticipation

Happy birthday to MLK!

We all know history is being made and there's no better moment than NOW. The present is filled with hope for a better day in America and it's coming shortly, I can feel it. I love our new first family. There has never been a first family who has publicly displayed as much love for their country and each other than the Obamas'. King said "he had a dream",long live the dream, the NEW American Dream.

Chic Find @ Forever21

I don't usually approve of synthetic shoes, but I think these shoes look pretty damn good! For $24.80 I think that's a good deal, and the shape of the shoes wont cause much damage to your feet. My biggest fear is having ugly feet from cheap shoes. When I get some free time I'm going to hurt them down, hopefully they look good in person. Would you rock synthetic shoes?

Miracle on 57th St.

I feel like I have to apologise for my obsession with Club Monaco, but what I found today could only be described as a fashion phenomenon. If you didn't know know January is the start of spring collections, so retail now has to boot out all the old fall and holiday merchandise. I'm thinking the bad economy helped boost the clearance sales currently going on too. But looky at what I bought! all under $70 !.. that's right, SEVENTY BUCKS! [ I'm very excited if you couldn't tell] If there's a Club Monaco near you, I suggest you go check it out, there's great bargains to find, and they also offer an extra 20% off for college students all year round.[ with Valid ID]

Pink Noi Top: $ 19 was $89

Red Stephanie Pea Coat: $39 was $249
Orange Jodi Miniskirt: $9 was $129

CHIC FIND! @ American Eagle

I just found the cutest, and inexpensive stretch pencil skirt at AE. It comes in 4 colors, lime, cobalt, gray, and black, and I WANT THEM ALL! I usually don't get this excited, but for $24.50, it's kinda making me drool. [okay maybe I wont get all 4 b/c that's like $100] but this a great deal, move over American Apparel, AEO is stealing your swag!

Spring Foward with PANTONE

It's freezing out in New York, and to be honest, I'm having difficulty staying cute because theres a point where you don't care anymore and you layer on everything you can find fits you to keep warm. Well Pantone is giving us something to look forward to... SPRING! I love spring, it's full of fresh colors and you don't to wear a heavy coat! Lucite green is the most appealing to me, designers like Tray Reese, Charlotte Ronson, Kimora Lee Simmons, and Rachel Roy have pieces in their spring 2009 collection inspired by colors from the Pantone spring palette. Also in other news Pantone has teamed with Gap and opened Pop-Up shop adjacent to Gap’s flagship at 54th and 5th in NYC. Pantone also named MIMOSA as the color of 2009. I love the warmth of the color, it's exactly what New York needs right now. The store will be opened until February.

Looks to Love: Club Monaco

There's no time like the present to "go green". Club Monaco is pops out kelly green garments in January, one of spring 09's fashionable colors with hints of a fresh lemony yellow. I love it!

Hotness from GILT.COM: Band Of Outsiders

Hotness is right! 49$ is perfecr for a pair of mens boat shoes and these are perfet for spring. I wish they had a size 6 in the green. If you want in on the sales leave me a comment, and I'll send you an invite.

A Letter From the Editor

The physique of a woman's' body is beautiful, in fact I love to show my body off every chance I get. However, that doesn't mean I walk around half NAKED all the time. I enjoy the mystery of revealing "just a lil' bit", to keep people in awe, or to make people say "how is she doing that?". It's twice as much fun as just "giving it all away at once, and it isn't tacky. I'm writing this today because last night I saw a girl dressed in the shortest and tightest dress imaginable and it was about 27 DEGREES last night, and I'm pretty sure she wasn't coming from or going to a party at 6pm. Long story short, she was wearing a tacky LBD with no stockings, pink and black striped spandex legwarmers that stopped before her ankles, ashy pink ankle shoes with, PINK cheap patent leather moccasins, and to top it all off she had on a huge North Face ski jacket. [at least she had some kind of sense]. Now here's the funny part, everyone in the terminal is starring at her, including myself. She turns to her entourage dressed in full winter wear, and says " I don't know why everyone keeps staring at me" with the sharpest of attitudes. Apparently she thought she was the sexiest thing on 2 legs at the time, but every one's looking at you honey because you forgot your clothes at home its 20- something degrees out here! I had a laugh at her. Well the point is, girls, you don't have to be naked to look attractive, being sexy is innate, and most of the time when you try to hard to dress sexy, you end up looking ridiculous. Just play it cool, and always dress smart.

Sprouse up the party.

Guests who attended the Louis Vuitton's Stephen Sprouse Tribute Party in NYC over the weekend. Everyone looks uber stylish and maybe one day I'll be planning events like these.

Party Host, Mr Marc Jacobs, wearing neon tights and kilt. [ only Marc can pull that off]. Designer Patrica Field wore a Stephen Sprouse jacket.

Models Arlenis Sosa, Chanel Iman, and Agyness Deyn also attended.

I'm feeling John Ngai's Grace Kelly t-shirt. Brandy Wine and Brenda A. Go-go are colorful characters, literally.

Also in attendance was Nitrolicious.com's Wendy L and celebrity style consultant and my role model Bevy Smith. [ in the gold sequin beret]

New M.A.C. Collection

These are my favorite looks, I might go try these on. The Hello Kitty Collection is comming up too, I'll keep you guys posted.

Stylin' & Profilin': 2009 Golden Globe Awards

Here's a few of my 2009 Golden Globe Awards favorites.

Taraji P. Henson wore a dress from J. Mendel Fall 2008 collection. I had to get a close up of her 3-finger ring. I think it's fabulous.

Heidi Klum and Zoe Saldana kept it short and sweet. Heidi wore a vintage polka dot James Galanos dress with matching bright red lips, she completed her outfit with strappy Louboutin sandals. Zoe always looks adorable.

I REALLY love this blue leopard print Spring 09 Lanvin on Maggie Gyllenhaal. I did a post on the shorter version but I also like it modified, especially with the zipper detail along the side. I expected someone with more of a colorful personality to wear this dress, but Maggie totally pulls it off.

Beyonce redeems herself in this Elie Saab Spring 08 Couture gown which is accessories with the most beautiful collar necklace I've ever seen.

Alot of critics didn't like Jennifer Lopez's Marchesa Spring 2009 gown because it looks like she took 10 steps back to her "JLO" days. True, but I do like the dress, maybe if her hair was loose and romantic it wouldn't have been so harsh. I know Diddy was somewhere kicking himself b/c she looks drop dead gorgeous and sexy. I say "if you got it, flaunt it".

Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon wore a dress from Tracy Reese's fall 2008 collection with matching wine statin peep toe pumps.

I think Renee Zellweger was the worst of the night and I actually feel shamed to share the same name with her. She usually looks great for red carpet events wearing the cutest strapless dresses. This Carolina Herrera Pre-Fall 09 gown isn't suitable for her style.
Who's your favorite?

Looks To Love: Kate & Taraji

# 1 , how fab is Taraji's pose? O0h she looks great, I'm loving it.

Now, Kate Hudson on the other hand surprisingly rocks the hell outta this Gucci dress. Turquoise is a color that looks great on every skin tone.

Doppelgänger: Terani's luvvin Jacobs

Terani was obviously inspired by Marc Jacobs asymmetrical transparent heart dress for their Prom 2009 collection/ Personally I wouldn't wear it, only if the belt was detachable, because it makes the dress look tacky. Belt less, this dress is on fire, and it's perfect for Valentines day.
