Recently there have been warnings about the UVA oven that you have to place your hands in for the color to dry. UVA rays can cause our skin to age. Great news, you do not have to give up gel manicures! As a prep step before you go to get your nails fancy, moisturise your hands with a lotion with SPF. Skin is skin, so if you put SPF on your face, make sure your hand cream has SPF in it as well . Our hands are one of the places that can show our age so lets keep our hands smooth and pretty!

I got the fantastic opportunity to meet notable fashion designer Reem Acra last weekend. Reem was born in the middle east and has an immaculate eye for European fashion. She got her first big break when she cut up her mothers finest tablecloth into a dress which then got noticed by a fashion editor at a party and the editor pushed her to attend FIT. She then became an exchange student in Paris, while studying abroad she had a high profile socialite friend who asked her to design her wedding dress. The dress got rants and raves reviews and in a split second Reem joined the bridal industry. Ms. Acra also designs RTW with a European flavor which is feminine and sophisticated. She is now one of my favorite designers and it was a pleasure to meet her.

Hello all, It is I, Renee, I'm not dead! I had to place Myssi D on hold for awhile to keep up with other events in the pursuit of my fashion career. I am now a make-up artist and stylist (of course) .Here's a sneak peak over the weekend I worked on a project with Haute Glamour and I worked with up and coming Designer Cody Sai for looks for his Spring2010 Collection. Check them both out. Much more to come because I've got a lot cooking, its just that it's difficult to find the time to post everything w/o a laptop. As the Sex in The City sequel is in the works, a huge chunk of the production is missing, beloved stylist Patrica Field who has worked on the show since it's creation. Actress Sarah Jessica Parker wanted the film to reflect the economic climate but Field ain't having it. "I don't use the recession as a reference for my creativity" says Field. I guess "Ressionista" isn't in the girl's Vocab. I hope Pat reconsiders.

Last night the annual Costume Institute Gala was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. There where many belle's of the ball and I'll post later on my favorites but I must address Miss Rihanna's ensemble. At first glace I thought her suit designed by Dolce & Gabbana was horrendous. After picturing her in a fancifull gown or a sexy fitted mini dress, or any frilled metallic combination of the two, I then reconsidered and realised her outfit of choice (or stylists choice) was perfect. I'm thinking she wasn't intending on jumping onto any "best dressed lists but if the idea was a PR stunt, she certainly grabbed my attention. Welcome back Ri-Ri. Kudos on her hair and make-up. Its the most fabulous part of your whole outfit.

Take two! Later this month part two of the Matthew Williamson collection will be released. I missed the first release so hopefully I will be able to get my hands on a few of these pieces. I have my eye on the turquoise tulip mini skirt and the peacock tank. Among the collection are scarfs, cute flowy tops, a fab motorcycle style jacket and colorful and flirty swim pieces. In the world of the fashion conscious it's imperative to possess a personal style to be easily recognized if you aren't a model or celeb. I noticed that younger fashionista use the word" unique" when they're asked to describe their style. The word is used so often that it defeats the purpose of it's meaning (in my opinion). I've always taken a note on how to develop a personal style. You have to have one consistent trait and then you can insert different variables into your style.

Take stylist Pat Feild for example. We will always recognize her with her flaming red hair. She then mixes different pieces to build her outfits and we've grown to love her quirkiness.

Designer Erin Featherson (I love her) always keeps her platinum blonde bangs cut perfectly.
New singer Janelle Monae always sports androgynous outfits with her hair fashioned in a retro quiff. Even if you can't remember her name, you would could remember her style.
We all know Anna Wintour by her sharply cut bob hairstyle and her over sized glasses.
What is your constant variable?? It can be your hair like these ladies, or a certain accessory you always wear or even a shirt your obsessed with. Whatever you do stay consistent and OWN IT! That's how you'll create your personal style and truly become "unique."

Juicy girls Pam and Gela went back to the drawing board to create a new collection titled "Bird" by Juicy Couture after "Couture Couture", their line with an estimated 50% higher price point than Juicy Couture basically flopped. In this economy Juicy's intended client doesn't want $1000 jersey dresses. "The Juicy team showed the collection to press on Thursday at the Bowery Hotel in New York, highlighting the cashmere cardigans, denim jeans, leather jackets and knit T-shirts and tanks in colors such as black, gray and baby pink. The collection consists of about 30 pieces which will launch for fall in select Juicy stores, Bergdorf Goodman, Net-a-porter, Harrods, Maxfield, Holt Renfrew and other specialty shops. The collection will retail between $150 for a knit top to $600 for a coat. " The new price point isn't so high end put it isn't H&M either. Will you guys hop on the big Bird wagon?

The weather in NY sucked today, it was gray, cold, and rainy (booo!) Well brighter days are coming soon and what better way to be prepared for the sun with cute sandals! I found these fringe sandals @ American Eagle Outfitters and these Jellys @ Aerie, definitely chic for cheap. They come in pink, blue, yellow, and black. Last summer I had a really cute pair of clear jellys from BCBG. A rather LARGE woman stepped on the back on my heel while I was wearing them and the strap popped. I was devastated. I bought the yellow ones to replace them but I'm thinking about exchanging them for the grey.

Hit!- I love Keke Palmer's eggplant colored leather dress. I think I like her matching pumps even more. Completely age appropriate and sexy at the same time.

I was having a love/hate feeling with Lauren Collin's outfit but then I decided it would be cute for walking around in spring with cute flats or sandals.

I like the edginess of Vanessa Hudgen's ensemble, however I hate boots showing bare skin with tiny shorts, I still see Daisy Duke no matter what.

Words will not even begin to describe how upset I am that I won't be participating int he TOPSHOP festivities begging on the 2nd. My finances aren't looking so good right now. Kate Moss is definitely going to be there to kick of the launch of her new collection. I love a good fashion tussle but sadly I wont be a part of this one. Hopefully I can make the Matthew Williamson for H&M collection on April 23rd. If any of you fashion babes are heading out to NYC on the 2nd here's some advice:

Go EARLY, the doors open at 11am, I think 8am or 9am would be comfortable. There actually might be girls sleeping in front of the door ( I saw it happen at the Roberto Cavalli for H&M last year) I also advise that you wear comfy clothes and flats, no one cares what your wearing they are all shopping the racks and besides you want to be able to take your clothes of quickly to try on clothes. When you do get inside grab EVERY thing, especially Kate Moss' collection and then barter with the other fashionista's in the room. Bring back up b/c it can get ugly, some people fight. If you make it out alive guard your shopping bags with your life and enjoy!

I have a confession, I love wearing leggings, yes, I'm one of those girls who wears them as pants. It's okay I swear I don't look tacky when I do it. Leggings are just so MUCH more comfortable than wearing jeans all the time and the black is very slimming and flattering in many places. For fall 09 I'm seeing lots of over the top leggings decked out in sequins and graphics, all very bold and elaborate. I like the idea of studded leggings but here's MY dilemma. How many times can you really wear your latex, sequined, graphic, or bright ass leggings without someone saying "Oh, she's wearing those leggings again, didn't she wear them last week??" It's the inevitable, people are always going to talk about you, but I refuse to pay $40 and up for a pair of leggings that I can wear once a month! The economy is really kicking my fashionably forward ass . So with that said I'm going to pass on the over the top leggings trend and stick with my basic black or studs and zippers.

I was telling my best friend the other day that I need an assistant, she laughed at me. But seriously either I need an assistant or a new camera, I took this picture with my phone(clear as hell ain't it??) I had a whole editorial planned but the timer of my phone sucks, and plus it can't stand up by itself. What I REALLY need is a photographer boyfriend, that would kill 2 birds with one stone. I always wanted to try purple lipstick so I found this shade called Fantasia. It's purple in the tube but it shows up as hot pink on me but I still it. Paris Fashion week,Marc Jacobs shows us how to wear thigh length boots without looking like a woman working the corner. The trick is VOLUME on top, and lots of it, loose hair and sharp and minimal make-up is good too. No more than 3 inches of thigh revealed and no tight tops. Good luck ladies, if you have the body, rock it, since I'm exactly 5 feet tall I won't be wearing knee-length boots, they swallow me whole! With that said I still like the thought of them.

Well I had no intention of actually buying something today but I was trying on shoes with my friend Taryn and we both fell in love. She bought black and I copped brown. I'm excited about them because I was depressed that I couldn't find a Balmain sandal look-a-like. But then I came to realization, I should move on since everyone is swooning over those sandals, so unless I have the real thing, everyone will be rocking a Balmain wanna be, AND studs are a big trend for spring. I usually feel like Baby Phat clothes look tacky and have a terrible fit, I'm not a fan of big logos in foil either. Unfortunately I have a fatal attraction to Kimora Lee, I REALLY like her, maybe it's un-natural, I even read her book "Fabulosity" from cover to cover. I'm definitely feeling these spring 09 looks. They arn't too bad as long as that damn kitty logo doesn't show up anywhere. I like the femininity of the lace and the lavender color in the two dresses, and Ombre skinnys are kind of appealing to me. What do you guys think?

Did anyone catch Rip The Runway on BET? It was hosted by actress Joy Bryant and the sexy Derek Luke. I enjoy watching the show every year and I like that it's an all Black production but for the most part I always feel like the designs are mediocre. I'm not comparing it to white designers or any other race, It's just that the fashions shown never stand out to me or scream "FASHION". Can I have some more creativity? Maybe it's because of the amateur models and the distractions from the performers. Keri Hilson did an amazing performance though! Her whole look was hot and so where her dancers. Keri's finally found her own unique style. Project Runways Korto showed a collection that wasn't up to par, it looked like 10 steps backwards from the collection she showed at Bryant Park last year. My favorite of the night was Byron Lars. I did some research on him after the show and Women's Wear Daily dubbed him "rookie of the year". His line was is available at prestigious retailers such as Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdale’s as well as one hundred other specialty stores throughout the U.S. along with some distribution in the U.K. and France. I've been trying to support designers of color lately to get some diversity in my closet.

[I know big girls need love too, and I love them but it's never okay to put a big girl in a GOLD LAME swimsuit!]

Max Azria made the right move by purchasing Herve Leger back in 1998 because since the line of body-con dresses have shot off into fashion stardom. If it's mini and tight, I LOVE it. These are my favorite looks and the hairstyles compliment the Urban Glamazon look Azria's got going on. "For Fall the designers wanted to move to "the beat of an urban tribe," so they chose a muted Saharan palette and successfully played with texture through weaving and insets of exotic skins". I adore the gray printed mini dress with the boxy shoulders. It's 80's with a modern appeal and I would definitely wear it with ease. I love automatic style outfits. What do you guys think of the collection?

I'm PISSED, my father used to work for PPS back in the 90's (goodbye discount) The line is priced between $25 and $45 which makes it very accessible. I want at least 3 of the heels, the only problem is now every girl could be rocking the same pair of spiky pumps from Payless, That doesn't make me feel unique but Christan's talent definitely is.This collection is a much needed Jolt to the dying discount brand. Where have all the GOOD female rappers gone? That's a question I've been asking for awhile. It seems as if they all died out, got arrested, moved on, or just got plain ol' wack and played out. Nicki Manaj, born Onika Maraj, 23, is a Queens native who is setting the industry on fire with her underground hits. She has been compared to the likes of Lil' Kim and Foxy Brown because of her sexually explicit lyrics but "It's important that people actually listen to my music" says Nicki. He heard tracks on her MYSPACE and contacted her to be on a DVD mixtape called "The Come Up"."This installment of The Come Up was "The Carter Edition," and had segments with Lil Wayne and Jay-Z, Nicki's video immediately proceeded Wayne's. Hey Fashion-ites,

I'm back!! There is NO place like NEW YORK! Home sweet home. I had fun in Bmore but I didn't get to take as many pictures as I promised. There was no time in between shows to take good pictures of our costumes. While in Maryland I was pissed because before I left I received an Email from Teen Vogue inviting me to LeSportSac's 35th Anniversary party at their Soho store which was on Thursday the 19th. If I can recall, on the 19th I was in Maryland most likely sprawled out on a floor, dead tired! A wise person once said, there is no such thing as luck, you make your own luck, by being in the right place at the right time. I , however was in the wrong freaking place at the wrong time!! I'm over it now, there will be other parties to go to but I learned that it's impossible to have two passions. They will never work. I've struggled between Dance and Fashion for awhile but I know I'm going to have to make a decision soon. Well I'm back, Style is resumed!

I have a fatal attraction to this years spring trend; the harem pant. I usually don't do trendy, but I want these pants to work for me REALLY badly. I tried on a cheap pair from Forever21 and they were too big and badly cut. I stood in the mirror and starred at the pants that were swimming on me, even Aladdin would have disapproved. I turned to BCBG and they have a pair for $238. [ pssht! ] I wouldn't pay that price for a trend that's going to be over soon. I've seen more subtle styles that aren't as baggy in the crotch that could survive for a couple of years paired with a fitted top and a nice blazer, sleeve rolled up of course! What do you think? Tres chic or Tres fou? Is it "hammer time" for any of you guys in fashionbloggerland?

Mama's got a new toy!

Last week I was walking through Roosevelt Field mall, and I was talking on my cell, when a T-mobile rep yells across the hall to me "YOU NEED TO UPGRADE!" I was completely embarrassed, but I knew he was right. I had a old white flip phone that came out in 2006. My friends and EVERYONE has been trying to get me to buy a new phone, but I really didn't want a sidekick, and a blackberry was too costly, call me El Cheap-O". After that spectacle in the middle of the mall he took me by the hand and walked me to his booth and I picked out the Samsung Behold. I LOVE IT, I choose the espresso color because I couldn't imagine owning a pink phone, seriously. This phone is amazing, its completely touch sensitive, 5 mega-Pixel camera with zoom and flash, records videos, music player, real web browsing, IM and everything my heart desires. I had it for about 3 days and no complaints, I would say battery life is a little weak, but I listen to music on it all day long. This phone has a ton a great features and it's perfect for a maturing stylista such as myself. Hey if your T-mobile contract is almost up, upgrade to the Behold, it's definitely worth it.

PS. I know how to unlock it if you DON'T have T-mobile.
